Cogoleto - Cascina Miera
The first stage starts from the Cogoleto seafront, with a transfer stretch along the wonderful cycle path that leads to Varazze. From here you begin to climb a rather steep paved road, until you reach Faie and take the dirt road traveled on the previous day for the prologue.
Once you reach the Pratorotondo Refuge, on the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, you climb again for a couple of km to the summit of Mount Beigua, at about 1.300 m above sea level, where a fantastic and exciting descent begins - first rocky, then stony and finally earthy on single track - which leads to Sassello.
From here you enter the Deiva Forest and climb up towards the ridge of the Alta Via, admiring a splendid view of the valleys of Liguria, with the sea in the background. Once you reach Colle del Giovo, you cover a short stretch of paved road and continue with a series of ups and downs in the beech forest and very enjoyable single tracks, to be pedaled at good pace.
At Le Meugge, after a short passage on the provincial road, you take a path that comes out again on the road, in Traversine: here stands one of the most famous monumental trees in Liguria, a centenary beech that houses the trail marker of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri. After a few kilometres, you leave the asphalt to enter the Adelasia Regional Natural Park and reach the beautiful Cascina Miera Refuge, from which you can enjoy a panorama of incomparable charm.
