Alta Via Stage Race partially retraces the itinerary of the spectacular Alta Via Dei Monti Liguri, which crosses the whole of Liguria winding along the watershed ridge.
In the first editions of the event, the race route faithfully followed the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri path, with only appropriate detours where the track conditions did not allow the passage. In the last editions we tried to vary the route, to offer the chance to discover new corners of Liguria.
The 2021 edition departs from Riccò Del Golfo (La Spezia) and arrives in Pigna (Imperia). It develops mainly in the hinterland, reaching the peaks of Monte Gottero, Monte Beigua and Monte Saccarello, but also includes two stage arrivals on the coast, in Chiavari and Finale Ligure.
Alta Via Stage Race 2021
595,15 km - 22.774 m D+

Over eight days bikers will ride for 590 km and climb 22.700 meters, through different environments and landscapes.
You will have the chance to ride through dense woods, go out on beautiful ridges that offer unforgettable views of the sea, cross villages of medieval origin, reach peaks that seem to belong to the Alps and then descend towards the coast with its rocky promontories and inlets.
This is the charm of the track, but also its difficulty: both athlete and vehicle must be ready to face very heterogeneous environmental conditions and types of terrain, breath and legs must be well trained, equipment must be chosen carefully.
The day before departure - Friday 11 June - there will be a short prologue in the surroundings of Riccò del Golfo, to warm up muscles and enthusiasm!
