The eighth edition of Alta Via Stage Race - after the forced cancellation of 2022, due to the health provisions of Liguria Region - is the result of a courageous decision by the staff: do not give up, even if the problem is always lurking, and push to the maximum on the quality of the organization. Because giving up would mean putting an end to an event which, on the other hand, has all the credentials to confirm and grow.

The decision to change the route and formula, limiting the number of participants and the effective collaboration with some local administrations make it possible to create an excellent edition, perhaps the best ever. The support of the De Mari CR Savona Foundation and the technical assistance of the CSAIn Promotion Body (Corporate and Industrial Sports Centers) are also fundamental. As an added value, the Race Management is entrusted to the experience of Stefano Scialli, organizer of international competitions in Ponente Ligure.

The 2023 route does not cross all of Liguria, but develops in the Ponente, from the Province of Genoa to that of Imperia, until it touches the border with France: a beautiful route, a stimulating mix between the itinerary of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri - which runs along the ridge alternating white roads with paths - and some famous mtb trails, fun but rather technical, which descend towards Cogoleto, Finale Ligure and Cisano sul Neva.

The stage locations are: the Municipality of Cogoleto, the Cascina Miera Refuge in the Adelasia Park, the Freeride Outdoor Village Camping in Finale Ligure, the Municipality of Cisano sul Neva, the La Vecchia Departure Refuge in Monesi di Triora, the Municipality of Bajardo. Each place of this edition leaves a special memory in the heart... and the desire to come back!

The new format of the competition (timed trials on off-road sections and transfers on asphalt roads) is very popular with the competitors, who have the opportunity to get together at the end of the individual trials to share efforts and emotions, but also to enjoy the specialties offered together without excessive haste from the refreshment points, always strategically positioned along the transfer sections.

The low number of participants becomes a strong point, because it makes relationships more intense and the "care" of the staff more attentive. Finally, the weather is also on our side: a mild climate, no excessively hot days, just a rain-conditioned stage. What to ask for more?

The arrival in Bajardo is full of joy, to end an unforgettable week in the best possible way.

Overall HERO Solo Men

N.B. Compared to previous editions, the overall time is lower, because the 2023 format requires that only the off-road sections (special stages) are timed, while the road sections are covered in transfers.
