This page tells the young but intense story of Alta Via Stage Race, mtb stage race born from the dream of a few brave, in the footsteps of the famous 24h of Finale, and grown thanks to the will of many enthusiasts, who share a love mountain bike, for Liguria and its beautiful territory.

This is a story that was in danger of being interrupted, in the absence of important support and substantial investments, but it started again in a great way, with the determination and enthusiasm of the first day.
In 2011 the association Ospitalità Alta Via dei Monti Liguri - which brings together accommodation facilities and tourist services located near the Alta Via main path or along the trails connecting the ridge with the hinterland and the coast - decides to embrace the dream of some mountain bike enthusiasts, former Organizers of the very well-known 24h di Finale: carring out an adventurous and spectacular stage race in Liguria that follows the example of the mythical events arranged every year in Europe, Canada and South Africa. Everyone’s commitment allows this dream to become true and in 2012 the first edition of Alta Via Stage Race takes place with the participation of 30 brave bikers!

In 2013 a group of particularly involved members sets up the new sports association Liguriavventura, dedicated to the promotion of sports adventures in the Ligurian hinterland. And the most legendary adventure can only be Alta Via Stage Race! The main partner remains Ospitalità Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, creator of the event and organizer of the first two editions. From 2014 to 2017 the members of Liguriavventura deploy their personal commitment, their skills, their love for the territory and the desire to make it known to those who love outdoor sports. Many names ought to be mentioned: Lorenzo Carlini, Marco Marchese, Claudio Simonetti, Martina Migliazzi, Marina De Martini, Marina Caramellino, Mauro Parodi, Vanessa Chiesa and Annamaria Messina, with the precious support of Simone Catassi, a tireless biker who takes care of the trail’s inspection and the realization of the GPS tracks.

In 2019 Vanessa Chiesa, who was already part of the team that created and organized the first six editions of the race, decides to found the new sports association Outdoor Experience Finale Ligure. Motivated both by the passion that has always pushed her to devote herself to the promotion of the Ligurian territory, and by the desire to resume the interrupted thread, withÂout leavÂing an event still so full of potentials on hold any longer, Vanessa takes up the chalÂlenge and decides to put all her heart and efforts in this chalÂlengÂing project, starting preparations for the seventh edition of the Alta Via Stage Race, scheduled for June 2020. Unfortunately, the health emergency forces to cancel all sporting events, but nothing is lost: it's just a matter of waiting another year and making the most of the time available to organize the best edition ever!
