The motto "Only the Brave" embodies the spirit of a high-level mtb competition, an adventure that only the brave dare to face, no less than the challenge launched by the other great mtb stage races in the world: tough races, which push bikers to their limit, mentally and physically. After all, we are in Liguria, where the climbs are for real bikers and the descents leave no room for those who haven't practiced mountain biking for a while at least! But Alta Via Stage Race is not just fatigue, it is much, much more.
An eclectic and evocative route, which every day offers something unexpected: paths immersed in woods, wind-swept plateaus, Mediterranean maquis, sunny stony areas, mountain ridges that seem to plunge into the sea and embrace the Alps and the coast at a glance.
Alta Via Stage Race is run by identifying the route from GPS, a new experience and a challenge for many bikers. Technical skills and physical endurance are not enough, you also need to be able to overcome the tension of the race in order to read the track and orient yourself on the territory.
Finale Ligure is known worldwide as a mountain bike paradise, but throughout all of Liguria - and in every stage of Alta Via Stage Race - it will always be fun for bikers! Long and fluid singletracks, winding trails, freeride descents, dirt roads: a variety of grounds that surprises and excites!
The strong point of Alta Via Stage Race is the deep bond with the territory and its people. Every evening, at the stage village, local associations will prepare a wonderful welcome dedicated to taste and folklore, offering typical dishes and products, traditional music and dancing.
The atmosphere that is experienced during the week is that kind that remains in the heart: we run together, eat and sleep in tents. A family atmosphere which does not only involve the riders, but the staff as well, thanks to the friendly approach that characterizes the management of the event.
Alta Via Stage Race is a journey through the history, the art and the culture of a beautiful region, a land of sailors and mountain people, capable of conquering even the most competitive bikers. Small villages rich in tradition, cultivated terraced hills, castles and fortifications, alleys and marinas.
